Kiwibass manual

Transport

The right-hand side of the header: what plays, and where in it you are.

Demo line and Pattern

Two note sources, one playing at a time.

Demo line is a fixed bassline, the same in every Kiwibass. It is the reference for judging a sound, because it does not change while you do.

Pattern plays the line written on the Pattern tab. Editing the pattern, or looping one of its bars, switches to it on its own: editing a line you cannot hear has no use.

Play and rewind

Play starts and pauses. Rewind returns to the first beat. The arc counts from there, so rewinding also restarts the phrase.

Tempo

The tempo in BPM. While audio is running it is fixed at 120, and its tooltip says so: the notes are timed when the audio device opens.

Position

Where the transport is, in bars, beats and sixteenths. It keeps counting past the end of the notes, which is how the arc goes on developing while the notes loop.

No audio

If no audio device could be opened, the header says No audio, with the reason in its tooltip. The editor still draws, measures and renders; you hear nothing.
