Instruments

Kiwisonic ships with built-in instruments so you can start writing straight away — nothing to install. There are two kinds:

  • Fixed instruments — ready-made sounds with a set character. Pick one and play; there are no settings to adjust.
  • KiwiSynth — the built-in synthesizer. It comes with a library of editable presets covering bass, leads, pads, keys, and more.

You can also load your own SFZ sample instruments and VST3 plugins; those aren't covered here.

Choosing an instrument

Every track editor has an instrument button showing the current instrument's name. Click it to open the instrument navigator, then search or browse for a sound. Instruments you can edit — KiwiSynth and VST3 plugins — show a gear (⚙) button beside the instrument button; click it to open the editor.

Fixed instruments

These play with a fixed, hardware-accurate character. There's nothing to set up.

  • Electric Piano — warm FM electric piano inspired by the Rhodes
  • TR-808 — fully synthesized Roland TR-808 drum machine
  • TR-909 — fully synthesized Roland TR-909 drum machine

KiwiSynth

  • KiwiSynth — the built-in synthesizer: a library of editable presets, plus a blank engine for designing your own sounds
