Play another instrument with a KiwiSynth pattern

KiwiSynth can make its own notes — its arpeggiator, motif generator, and scripts all play patterns for you. Normally those notes come out of KiwiSynth's own sound. With generated MIDI routing you can send them somewhere else: have the arp play your piano, your bass, or any other track — and, if you like, freeze that pattern into editable notes you can tweak by hand.

Route the pattern to another instrument

1. Open the KiwiSynth editor for the track running the arp/motif (click its instrument button).
2. At the bottom of the editor, find Generated MIDI →.
3. Pick the track you want it to play. That track's instrument now sounds the pattern KiwiSynth generates.

Press play and the destination instrument performs the arp/motif. The KiwiSynth track is acting as the "brain"; the other track provides the sound. Pick Off to stop routing.

Capture it as editable notes

Turn on Capture to notes (next to the destination picker) and play the section. As the pattern runs, its notes are written into the destination track's pattern — real notes you can open in the editor and change: move them, delete one, re-voice a chord, nudge the timing.

This is the way to freeze a generated pattern: design an arp you like, capture it once, then turn KiwiSynth's generator off and keep editing the captured notes like anything you played in yourself.

Good to know

• Capture only runs while you ask it to. It's not saved with the project, so you won't quietly re-record the same notes every time you press play. Arm it, play through once, then switch it off.
• Captured notes land on the destination track, in the section that's playing — the same track whose instrument is sounding them.
• Routing the synth to itself isn't allowed — that would just retrigger its own generator.
• If you don't hear the destination, check it has an instrument loaded and that you picked it (not Off) in the Generated MIDI → box.
