Master bus effects

Most effects in Kiwisonic act on a single track. Master bus effects act on the whole mix at once — every track summed together — so they are the place for glue and final polish.

Opening the master effects

Expand the mixer panel (the channel-strip side panel) and click ⚙ Master FX at the bottom, below Add Track. A flyout opens with every effect listed on the left; click one to edit it on the right.

The master chain runs after every track and before the final output limiter, so it hears the finished mix exactly as it leaves Kiwisonic.

What to use it for

• Glue compression — a gentle Compressor on the master pulls the mix together so the tracks feel like one performance rather than separate parts.
• Saturation — a touch of Saturation on the master adds warmth and "bite", and softly tames peaks so the mix sounds fuller without getting louder.
• High-pass the mix — set the Filter to High-Pass mode with a low Cutoff (around 20–40 Hz) to remove inaudible sub-rumble that otherwise eats headroom.
• Tone — a small Tone tilt brightens or warms the entire mix in one move.

Keep master effects subtle. They affect everything, so small changes go a long way — if an effect is doing something dramatic on the master, it usually belongs on a single track instead.

How it differs from track effects

• Master effects have no sections and no automation — they are a single setting for the whole song.
• Every effect is available on the master, including the ones that are section-level on a track (Filter, Reverb, Gate, …).
• Master effect settings are saved with the project.

Changes are heard immediately during playback.
