Samples
Kiwipulse keeps every recorded sound in one place: the project sample pool, a shared bank
of up to 64 slots. Any track running a sampling engine — Sample
or Granular — plays from this pool, and the audio travels
inside the project package, so a .kpp is fully self-contained. The Drum machine's
recorded hit and recorded body halves draw on the same pool.
The SAMPLES page is where you manage that pool. (How each engine plays a sample — windows, pitch, velocity layers — lives in the machine docs linked above.)
The SAMPLES page
An 8×8 grid of pool slots above a waveform strip:
- Load a WAV — click Load WAV… (or any empty slot) and pick a file; it decodes into
the next free slot, labelled with its file name. You can also drag and drop one or more
.wavfiles straight onto the grid. (PCM 8/16/24/32-bit and float, mono or stereo.) - Preview — click a loaded slot to select it; its waveform shows below and it auditions so you can hear what you've got.
- Assign to a track — Assign to track… points a track at the selected slot: it sets
that track's machine to Sample and aims its
slotparameter at your audio.
Tags & filtering
As the pool grows, tags keep it navigable:
- Edit tags… — attach free-form labels to the selected sample (up to eight), e.g.
kick,vinyl,808. - Tags: All — filter the grid to one tag; non-matching slots dim (their slot numbers stay put, so nothing your patterns reference moves).
The factory acoustic library
Kiwipulse ships a curated library of real acoustic drum hits (with natural velocity layers), used by the Modern Acoustic and 70s Rock demos. It's there from first launch. The source and licence are in Credits.
